One of Showtime's longest-running programs is getting a few guest appearances this year, as Weeds' seventh season, set to debut on June 27, 2011, will bolster its cast with the likes of legendary comedian Martin Short (who showed his dramatic chops on Damages last year), Aidan Quinn (NBC's upcoming Prime Suspect), Lindsay Sloane, and more. Production on the new season's 13 episodes is currently underway in Los Angeles, with Showtime banking on the new casting selections complementing the likes of Jennifer Jason Leigh, who is returning for several episodes as Nancy's sister.
The sixth season ended on a cliffhanger, with Nancy Botwin, a former suburban mom-turned-pot dealer, surrendering to the FBI for the murder of Pilar Zuazo. Season 7 will change up the show's dynamic in a big way (spoilers follow, but they're Showtime-approved!).
Murder is kind of a big deal, so the series flashes forward three years later, with Nancy getting out of the big house and settling in amongst the locals in New York, complete with the boys - Andy (Kirk), Silas (Hunter Parrish) and Shane (Alexander Gould) -- who were camped out in Copenhagen -- now Big Apple-bound with Doug (Kevin Nealon) in tow.
