Chuck/Sarah - Beziehung:
The unrequited aspect of Chuck and Sarah's relationship won't change, Schwartz said. But there are more layers of complication for both characters. If anything, Chuck's relationship with Sarah is more danger-laden than ever. Schwartz put it succinctly: "She becomes his Kryptonite." Say what?
Intersect 2.0:
Though the Intersect 2.0 can give Chuck a wide array of abilities, those abilities can short-circuit or stop working at random times. And due to his new abilities, and his difficulties in channeling them, Chuck can be a danger not only to Sarah, but to the world.
"There is a line that we have in the first episode: 'Sarah, for a while your mission has been to protect Chuck from the world. Now you have to protect the world from Chuck,'" Schwartz said. "There is a version where it could all go awry. Now he has incredible abilities but if he can’t control them, he could potentially blow up the world. (Heroes Season 1 lässt grüßen

"One of the things we talked about for Season 3 is that [the Intersect 2.0] was designed for Bryce Larkin. Somebody who was cold and calculating and in total control of his emotions," Schwartz said. "If Chuck can’t control his emotions, he can’t control his new Intersect."
Given that his abilities are unpredictable, Chuck still needs Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski) and John Casey (Adam Baldwin) around as his spy handlers, to bail him out when things go wrong. But the problem is, Chuck's emotions affect how the Intersect works in his head.
His emotional states can cause his spy skills to fluctuate in unpredictable ways, Fedak and Schwartz said. Thus, Chuck giving in to his emotions can be dangerous for both Chuck and Sarah. (On top of that, "Something very emotional and traumatic is going to happen between Chuck and Sarah," Schwartz said at the Comic-Con panel.)
"He has to channel it and also be able to control [the new Intersect]," Schwartz said. "Who’s the one person that probably plays the most havoc with Chuck’s emotions? That’s Sarah. So in a way, she becomes his Kryptonite."
The unpredictability of Chuck's abilities will be a big source of comedy in Season 3, and Levi will be called upon to do more physical action than ever before.
Chuck & Morgan - Bromance:
When the season begins, Chuck and his best friend, Morgan (Joshua Gomez), are roommates. Yes indeed, it looks as though the bromance is back, at least as Season 3 begins. Chuck's sister Ellie (Sarah Lancaster) and her husband, Captain Awesome (Ryan McPartlin), have moved out, to a new pad that is no doubt Awesome. Chuck takes over Ellie's apartment and Morgan, a former Buy More employee who is pursuing his dream of becoming a Hibachi chef, moves in. This development allows for more of the "bromance" that was sometimes overshadowed by spy shenanigans in Season 2.
"In the beginning, it was much more [evenly distributed between] family life and spy life," Levi said. "Second season, we really got into the spy world because we kind of had to. This season, I would like to go back a little more to the bromance. [Joshua Gomez, who plays Morgan,] is just a great dude and we really hit off well. I really feel like its important for Chuck and for Morgan to be able to geek out like geeks do."
Despite these alterations, the basic premise of the show -- a regular guy working at a Buy More suddenly dealing with dangerous espionage assignments -- won't change. "We always wanted to do an action-comedy show about a guy who has a regular life and he has his family and his friends and he has a job. We don't want to lose that," Fedak said.
