To adjust a subtitle to other versions with the Subtitle Workshop |

Sometimes our subtitles are only for certain versions, because others are defective or perhaps not so popular. This tutorial explains how to adjust a subtitle to other versions. You can get the Subtitle Workshop here: http://www.urusoft.net/download.php?lang=1&id=sw |

1.) Prepare the files We suggest you to rename the files, because the STW crashes sometimes if video and subtitle are named on the same way. We go into the Explorer: 
There we name the SRT file in something simple like "deutsch350.srt"

2.) Load the files in the Subtitle Workshop We open the movie in the STW... 
...and the subtitle we want to adjust.  |

PLEASE NOTE: You can also open the original file in the STW and save it later on another name, but our way is less dangerous |

3.) Adjust the subtitle After we opened the movie and the subtitle in the STW, we notice: "Hmm...something doesn't fit, he's begging for his live although he's already dead" |

First, we mark all items with Ctrl-A |
|||
|
|||
|
Now we move them in the direction we wanted with Ctrl-SHIFT-N or Ctrl-SHIFT-H until the subtitle fits perfect at the beginning. In most cases the difference is not more then a few seconds (if indeed). |

|
Now we check every hundred items, if they are synchronous. So we try 100...ok that fits, 200...ok that fits, too, 300...no that doesn't fit any more. We're searching now for the item between 200 and 300, where it gets asynchronous. Now we found it...at item 217 it gets unsynchronous, but we can handle it |

We mark all items between 217 and the end (Ctrl-SHIFT-END). We don't have to mark the items between 1 and 217, because it's perfectly synchronous there. |

So we press Ctrl-SHIFT-N a few times and it fits also after 217 |

|
Usually you have 3-4 items where you have to adjust the subtitle.When we found this items and the whole subtitle fits perfectly, then of course we have to save the subtitle

4.) Finish After we have closed the STW, we give the file deutsch700.srt the right name in the Explorer 
We're done. If you get some practice you need about 5 minutes to adjust a subtitle The End |

No, it's not the end With Ctrl-SHIFT-N or Ctrl-SHIFT-H the items will be pushed forward and back just 100 ms, but if you want to move the subtitle about 30 seconds then you'll get old with this feature. In this case we use the feature SET-DELAY. 
Then the following picture comes up. There we can move the items even in minutes and also just in milliseconds
